Robin Elise Weiss Ph.D., MPH, CLC, BDT/AdvCD(DONA), LCCE, FACCE, is a doula and doula trainer with DONA International. She is the author of multiple books and websites on pregnancy and parenting for consumers. She is the winner of Lamaze International’s prestigious Elisabeth Bing Award for outstanding contribution to childbirth on a national level and the Coalition for Improving Maternity Services (CIMS) Forum Award and Lamaze International’s President’s Award for her work with The Birth Survey. Robin is a past president of the Lamaze International Board of Directors. She and her husband live in Louisville, KY with a few of their nine children and a couple kittens on any given day.
Robin has been involved with birth since 1989, teaching and attending thousands of people as a doula or doula trainer. With her personal and professional knowledge of labor and birth, she is uniquely qualified to talk about pregnancy from a diverse collection of experiences with her own unique style.
Her work with DONA International started in 1994 with the original website committee. She has also served on the Nominating Committee, the Legislative Action Committee, and as Treasurer of DONA International. Robin hopes to help DONA International strengthen and grow in the years to come through the formation of a 501(c)3 branch, enabling us to reach the vision of a doula for every person that wants one.
